The Gart Companies reflects three generations of talent and background, beginning with Nathan Gart who started a fishing and outdoor gear shop in 1928. Today, Ken, Tom and John Gart are all partners, principals and investors in each of The Gart Companies, although each has an individual day-to-day responsibility with one or more of the entities. While the Gart family is the backbone the business, The Gart Companies also rely on outstanding and experienced individuals in key executive positions. Ken
Gart, President of Specialty Sports Ventures, graduated from
Middlebury College in Vermont (B.A., 1978) and Stanford Business School
(M.B.A., 1982). Ken has a passion and talent for specialty retailing. He
is an athlete and enthusiast in the sports his division manages: skiing
and cycling; and has climbed over 30 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks.

Thomas Gart, President of The Gart Companies is a graduate of Stanford (B.A., 1980) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A., 1984). Tom oversees the strategic direction of all Gart interests. He is a two time Iron Man Finisher in the top 20% of his age group, an avid skier and fly fisherman — Tom is married and has three children. tgart@gartco.com |

Chris Brown is a graduate of Princeton University (B.A., 1997). Analyst,
Morgan Stanley, 1998-2000. Associate, myCFO, Inc., 2000-2002. Vice
President, Petrie Parkman & Co., 2002-2006. Chris is responsible for generating
proprietary deal flow, researching potential acquisition candidates, performing
due diligence and working with current portfolio companies. Chris is the primary
contact to identify new investment opportunities for Gart Capital Partners. He is
passionate about several sports including skiing, golf, squash, ice hockey and
lacrosse and was a member of three Division I National Championship Lacrosse Teams
while at Princeton. Chris is married with one child. |
